Kerry Best Wind Direction: North to SW Beach Faces: W Best Tide: All Shore Type: Sand A really nice beach, which despite its apparent exposure to the sea is quiet sheltered from the swell (unlike inch to the north). Any westerly swell less than 10 foot is fine for blasting. A westerly wind will take you along the length of the beach, a 2.5km stretch with the beach in view at all times. Avoid the temptation to go north past the head land as there are large shoals with strong currents. These should be quiet visible A northerly wind from the beach will take you west along the cliff face. Try stay upwind of the cliffs about 300 m to avoid gusts. The cliffs are safe, and if your washed in for what ever reason, you can walk safely all the way back to the beach. Avoid launching near carpark on high tide with swell as it crashes on the rocks. Instead, launch about 500m north to where stones end. There is plenty car park space and rigging area. |
