NOTE:
We ask everybody to register on-line, this will speed things up on the day for everybody. The event is being run as a fund raiser for the RNLI, all proceeds will be donated to them after the event. For anybody that registers on the day there will be a €5 surcharge that will go directly to the RNLI. If you want to make this donation please feel free to register on the day.
DIRECTIONS
From town;
If you are coming through town, head out towards Dun Laoghaire on the R118, stay on this road as you go along Pembroke Road, then Merrion Road, then The Rock road. This then becomes the N31 on the Frascati road, then Temple road. At Blackrock village you will pass by Maxwell Motors on your left, at the next set of lights take the left and then right onto Seapoint Avenue. You will see signs for Stena Line, follow these until you cross over the DART line. As you go over the bridge take the immediate left turn to go back up along the DART line. Continue along the road, over the speed bumps, under the pedestrian bridge, the road bends to the right and then left, stay on the road and go under barrier, the road opens up into the carpark.
From the M50;
Take the exit for Leopardstown, from the Leopardstown roundabout take the R113 Leopardstown Road, cross over the N11 onto Newtownpark Avenue. At the T-junction at the bottom of the hill take the left, the road will open up into 2 lanes. Stay in the right lane and look to take the first right onto Newtown Avenue, take the next right onto Seapoint Avenue.
Point A on the map below is the car park at Salthill, Dun Laoghaire.
IMPORTANT:
There is a barrier across the entrance to the carpark, we have tried to have this opened but is out of our control. Cars and small vans will have no problems getting under this but if you have a roof rack please do be careful going under it.
There are yellow marker buoys in the water, these mark the swimming area for the swimmers. This area of Dun Laoghaire can be very popular with the swimmers so windsurfer’s are to keep well clear of any swimmers. All racing will take place beyond these marker buoys
SPONSORS:
Surfdock in conjunction with Neil Pryde, JP-Australia, North, Fanatic and ION have lined up some great prizes for the event. Top prize will be a Neil Pryde sail!!
Again Cully and Sulley shall ensure we have plenty of soup to keep us going and Jurys Inn hotels are also supporters of the event.
ALTERNATIVE ENTERTAINMENT:
If we have a window where the wind doesn’t blow we will have a fleet of Naish Mana SUPS on hand to run some fun SUP racing.
For those that are looking for more regular things to do, there are shops, cinema and plenty of cafes around Dun Laoghaire. Also the DART is close by for the short trip into Dublin city centre, it takes about 30minutes.
Don’t forget Ireland kick off their world cup on Sunday morning, kick off should be 7am Irish time and will be shown on RTE for anybody that are up early enough to catch it.
