Silver Strand, Co. Galway was the location for the fifth and final round of the 2008 Irish Slalom Series. Over 54 competitors from all corners of Ireland made the journey west, to Galway's most popular windsurfing location. Weather forecasts throughout the week, predicted a strong off shore breeze. With the last opportunity to battle for the national titles, some exciting racing was guaranteed.

 

Round 4, Coolmaine, Cork-23rd/24th Aug

Coolmaine beach in the heart of Courtmacsherry Bay, Co. Cork, played host to Round 4 of the Irish Slalom Series over the weekend of 23-24th August 2008. A fleet of 30 entrants were presented with a playground of strong winds, varying sea states and four seasons all mixed into one fun filled weekend of windsurf racing. Round 3, Downings, Donegal-19th/20th July

The Irish Slalom Tour is growing strong and his third event confirms it.

The third round of the 2008 Irish Windsurfing Associations Slalom Series took place over the weekend of the 19-20th July at Downings Beach, Donegal. Now in its 25th year of gracing the golden sands at Downings Beach, the event played host to no fewer than 86 registered competitors; the biggest attendance at an Irish National windsurfing event in more than 10 years!

The revival of the Irish Racing Scene has experienced some fantastic weather and a healthy stream of new faces adding to the action. Glorious weather beamed on Malahide to kick off the series, and the Kerry event over the 7th and 8th of June was to be no exception. If the 2008 Slalom Series gains nothing else, we'll all at least be the most relaxed and tanned windsurfers in the country! Windguru predicted a 14-knot forecast for Saturday, with lighter airs for the Sunday - Ideal conditions for all abilities to get involved in some windsurf racing.

 

Round 1, Malahide, Dublin-3rd/4th May

Irish Slalom Series 2008 Round1 - Fleadh Seoil, Malahide Co. Dublin

After several years rest, competitive racing made a comeback last weekend at the inaugural 2008 Fleadh Sheoil. With the assistance of Surfdock and DMG Sailsports, the event took place at the Broad Meadow Estuary in Malahide.
